Gr1 Titanium Wire for Filter Mesh

Gr1 Titanium Wire for Filter Mesh

■Commercially pure titanium wire, Grade 1
■Used as raw material for woven and filter mesh
■High ductility for drawing, weaving, and forming
■Stable surface condition for filtration structures

Product Introduction

Product Description

  • This Grade 1 titanium wire is supplied as wire only.

It is used by customers who produce filter mesh, screens, or sintered structures themselves.

  • The wire is processed further after delivery.

Weaving, forming, or sintering is done on the customer side, depending on the filter design.

  • Grade 1 is commonly selected for this type of work because it draws and bends easily.

For fine mesh and multi-layer structures, that matters more than strength.

This product is intended for mesh manufacturers and filtration system builders who require stable wire quality as input material.

Why Grade 1

Grade 1 is usually chosen when the wire needs to be worked a lot after delivery. For fine filter mesh, the wire is bent, pulled, and interlaced repeatedly. In this situation, softness and stability matter more than tensile strength.

Higher grades are available, but they behave differently during weaving. They hold shape better, but they also resist deformation, which increases the risk of breakage when mesh density goes up. Grade 1 sits on the safe side.
It allows tighter weaving, smoother forming, and fewer interruptions during production.
That is why it is commonly used as input material for titanium filter mesh and related structures.

Technical Focus

When titanium wire is used for filter mesh, most issues do not come from strength.

  • The first thing that matters is wire consistency.

If diameter or surface condition shifts between batches, the weaving process becomes unstable. That usually shows up as uneven mesh or frequent stops during production.

  • The second point is ductility after processing.

Wire that looks fine on delivery can behave very differently once it is bent repeatedly. Grade 1 is checked mainly to make sure it stays workable through forming, not just at rest.

  • The last one is surface cleanliness.

For filtration structures, contamination on the wire surface often matters more than appearance. Residues picked up during drawing or handling can affect later sintering or service performance.

These are the points that are usually controlled first when the wire is prepared for mesh production.

Applications

product-622-350

Woven Titanium Filter Mesh

This wire is often used directly on weaving machines.
It is fed, bent, and interlaced into fine titanium mesh, usually in continuous runs.
If the wire does not behave consistently, weaving stops quickly.

Sintered Titanium Filter Structures

Some customers use the wire before sintering.
It is cut, arranged, and combined with other titanium materials, then sintered into porous filter media.
In this case, the wire becomes part of the final structure, not just a carrier.

Internal support wires in the filter element assembly

The wire is sometimes used where no filtration happens.
It acts as internal support or spacing inside titanium filter elements.
Here, long-term stability in corrosive media matters more than strength.

Routine Checks

For titanium wire used in filter structures, inspection is not about appearance.

  • The first thing checked is chemical composition.

Small shifts in impurity content can change how the wire behaves during weaving or sintering, especially when the wire is processed repeatedly.

  • The second focus is mechanical response, not just strength.

The wire is tested to confirm it bends and deforms in a predictable way, without sudden stiffness or cracking during forming.

  • Finally, dimensional inspection is done on the wire itself.

Diameter consistency matters more than nominal size, because uneven wire quickly leads to unstable mesh or irregular porous structures.

These checks are carried out to make sure the wire behaves the same way in further processing as it did during sampling.

Packaging & Delivery

For this type of wire, packaging is mostly about keeping the shape stable.

Depending on diameter and length, the wire is supplied either in loose coils or straight bundles.
Each batch is separated, protected, and fixed to avoid deformation during transport.

For export shipments, the wire is placed in wooden cases.
Internal spacing is used so the wire does not shift, even on long routes.

FAQ

Q1: What inspections are usually done before the wire is used for filter mesh?

A1: In practice, three things are checked first. Chemical composition, mainly oxygen and iron levels. Wire diameter consistency, to avoid problems during weaving. And surface condition, to make sure there is no oil or residue left from drawing or handling. If these are stable, later processing is much smoother.

Q2: What problems are most common during mesh weaving?

A2: Diameter variation and uneven wire behavior. If the diameter shifts, mesh openings start to drift. If the wire reacts differently from one section to another, machine tension becomes unstable and production stops quickly. That is why consistency matters more than strength values.

Q3: Can this metal wire be directly used for sintered filter elements?

A3:Yes. Some customers will cut and arrange the metal wire before sintering, and then sinter it together with other titanium materials. In this case, the metal wire becomes part of the final porous structure. Surface cleanliness and chemical stability are key.

Q4: Is the metal wire supplied in spool form or as loose coils?

A4: Both forms are available. Loose coils are usually preferred for weaving because they are easy to load and reduce the bending memory effect. Spools are more suitable for controlled feeding or automated processes. Packaging is usually adjusted according to the application of the metal wire.
