Product Introduction
- Titanium Rod for Surgical Tools is supplied as precision-machining stock for instrument shafts, handles, hinge pins, clamp components, retractors and other reusable surgical instrument parts. Grade selection depends on whether the finished component requires easier forming and fabrication, higher mechanical strength or a specifically defined medical material specification.
- Grade 2 can be reviewed for parts requiring commercially pure titanium, while Grade 5 is commonly considered for higher-strength machined components. Grade 23 ELI should be ordered only when the drawing or approved material specification specifically requires it.
- The raw rod specification does not by itself certify the completed surgical instrument or guarantee a fixed number of sterilization cycles. Diameter, straightness, surface finish, cleaning condition, traceability and packaging should be confirmed according to the instrument design and the manufacturer's validation plan.

Product Features & Application

- Instrument Parts from Small-Diameter Rod
Precision titanium rod can be machined into instrument shafts, handles, hinge pins, clamp components and other cylindrical parts. Starting diameter and cut length should be selected according to the finished geometry, chucking position and machining sequence.
- Grade Selection by Component Function
Grade 2 may be considered where commercially pure titanium and greater fabrication flexibility are required. Grade 5 is used for higher-strength machined components, while Grade 23 ELI should be ordered only when the approved specification explicitly calls for that material.
- Surface and Validation Requirements
Ground or polished surfaces can reduce the amount of finishing required after machining, but final roughness, cleaning, passivation and sterilization compatibility must be validated on the completed instrument. Raw-material supply should therefore follow the drawing, inspection plan and approved manufacturing route.
- Typical Instrument Components
Typical downstream parts include surgical tool handles, instrument shafts, hinge pins, clamp parts, retractors, positioning fixtures and other reusable precision components. Final suitability depends on the instrument design, material specification and device manufacturer's validation requirements.
Product Details

- Material is supplied in the grade and standard stated on the purchase order. Grade 2, Grade 5 and Grade 23 should not be treated as interchangeable materials.
- Annealed rod can be supplied with ground, polished or machined surfaces according to the required diameter allowance and downstream finishing process.
- Full lengths, repeated cut blanks, chamfered ends and preliminary machining can be arranged according to the component drawing and production quantity.
- Diameter tolerance, straightness and surface roughness are confirmed according to the actual diameter, length and finished instrument requirement rather than one universal catalog value.
- Chemical, mechanical, dimensional and visual inspection records can be supplied according to the agreed scope. Ultrasonic inspection is reviewed according to product size and the specified acceptance requirement.
- Clean separated packing can be arranged, but the rods are supplied as raw material and should not be described as sterile finished medical devices.
Technical Order Support

Support for Surgical Instrument Material Orders
- Grade and Standard Review
Grade 2, Grade 5 or Grade 23 is reviewed against the component function, drawing and required material standard before quotation.
- Drawing and Tolerance Review
Diameter, length, straightness, surface roughness, machining allowance and end preparation are confirmed according to the finished instrument component.
- Validation-Lot Supply
Small trial quantities or separated validation batches can be discussed according to the required diameter, processing route and material availability.
- Traceability and Records
MTC, heat number, dimensional records and agreed inspection documents can be supplied to support the customer's material control process.
- Surface and Packing Confirmation
Grinding, polishing, surface protection and separated packing requirements are confirmed before production. Final cleaning and sterilization validation remain part of the finished instrument manufacturing process.
FAQ
Q1: How do you check straightness?
A: Each rod is placed on a flat platform and measured with digital dial indicators. Products exceeding 5 μm/300 mm deviation are rejected.
Q2: Can titanium rods handle repeated sterilization?
A: Yes. Unlike stainless steel, which may corrode or lose accuracy, the Titanium Rod for Surgical Tools remains stable after 200+ cycles at 134°C. This makes it the preferred choice for surgical instrument manufacturing.
Q3: Do you supply cut-to-length rods?
A: Yes, lengths from 50 mm upwards can be supplied, saving time and reducing extra cutting steps.

Company profile
Baoji Zhongxinbao Metal Materials Co., Ltd. supplies precision titanium rod and cut blanks for surgical instrument components, medical equipment parts and other small-diameter machining requirements. Available processing includes fixed-length cutting, centerless grinding, polishing, chamfering and preliminary machining.
Each order is reviewed according to the required grade, material standard, diameter, length, tolerance, surface condition, heat-lot arrangement and documentation scope. MTC, material identification and agreed inspection records can be supplied to support trial production, validation batches and recurring instrument component orders.
The supplied rod is treated as manufacturing material. Final instrument cleaning, sterilization compatibility, regulatory compliance and device validation are controlled by the finished-product manufacturer according to the applicable instrument requirements.
