After 12 hours of uninterrupted operation, the night-shift team successfully completed the rolling of a titanium alloy material tailored for next-generation high-end mobile phone models. This marks an important milestone for Pangang in the field of advanced titanium materials and further strengthens China's position in the global new materials sector. The rolling process adopted an industry-leading on-site technical support system. The operations manager personally led the technical team throughout the production run, while a bi-hourly quality inspection protocol ensured product accuracy within millimeter tolerances. In preparation, the equipment supervisor organized comprehensive preventive maintenance of the mill's bearings and hydraulic systems 72 hours in advance, resulting in zero equipment failures during the 12-hour operation.
During production, the chief operator relied on a smart monitoring system to track the entire process in real time, ensuring both personnel and equipment safety under conditions exceeding 800 °C. The titanium alloy material produced in this campaign will be used in the latest premium models from several well-known mobile phone brands.
In recent years, by integrating industry, academia, and research with practical application, the mill has tackled 12 key technical challenges in titanium alloy rolling, such as shape control and surface quality management. As a result, it has developed a proprietary rolling process system with independent intellectual property rights. This successful production not only demonstrates Pangang's technological strength in new materials but also reflects the commitment and responsibility of China's steelmakers and industrial workers in the new era.
As domestically produced high-end titanium materials gradually break foreign monopolies, China is steadily building its own titanium-based intelligent manufacturing capabilities.
